Certified Surgical Technologist

The Certified Surgical Technologist is essential in providing patient care to achieve identified outcomes and meet the goals of the healthcare facility. This professional performs duties in alignment with their scope of practice as defined by industry standards and certification boards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies required for surgical procedures.
• Maintain and protect the sterile field during surgeries.
• Understand the surgical procedure being performed to anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Contribute to patient care by ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program recognized by CAAHEP or ABHES, or certification from the NBSTA is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in surgical technology.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic medical records documentation is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience in Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Robotic Surgery is mandatory.
