Acute Care Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Acute Care Medical Surgical team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to assigned patients on the medical surgical unit.
• Monitor patient conditions and coordinate treatment plans.
• Administer medications and facilitate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to unit goals and initiatives.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families about health management and recovery.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
• 1 travel assignment experience preferred.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are required.
• Experience with EMR systems, particularly Meditech, is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to 12-hour shifts, with the expectation of working every other weekend and holidays as needed. The typical shift hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo a general orientation lasting 1 week, including training on the electronic medical record system. Additionally, a 2-day floor-specific orientation will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the unit.

Nurse-To-Patient Ratios

The nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5, with the potential for 1:6 depending on acuity levels.

Floating Requirements

All nurses may be required to float to other acute care and cardiac units as needed, depending on patient care needs.
