Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Job Overview

This position is for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MedSurg) within an Acute Care setting. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, adhering to established protocols, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Shift Details

• Unit: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed

Clinical Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the MedSurg unit.
• Maintain patient safety and advocate for optimal care at all times.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
• Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions.
• Assist with medical procedures and ensure the proper use of medical equipment.

Patient Ratios

• 1:5 ratio, possibly 1:6 for both day and night shifts.
• Nurse aides available with a ratio of 1:8 or 1:10.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience with at least 1 travel assignment.
• Required Certifications:
• BLS (AHA) – Basic Life Support
• NIHSS – National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale

Orientation

• General Orientation: 1 week, including EMR training.
• Floor Specific Orientation: 2 days.

Additional Information

• EMR System: Meditech experience preferred but not required.
• Floater Requirement: May float to all acute care and cardio units as needed.
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue.
