Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients. The successful candidate will deliver vital respiratory support and work closely with Rapid Response Teams while supporting both Critical Care and Emergency Department populations.
Shift Details
This position requires a night shift schedule, working three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
Weekend Requirement
Every other weekend is required for this role.
Time Off Policies
- Up to two pre-approved time-off requests are permitted per contract.
- The system will auto-approve time off requests for 14 days or less.
- Every other winter and summer holiday is required with no time off approved during these periods.
- No time off on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience is required.
- RRT certification is preferred; CRT candidates with 5 years of experience may be considered.
- Experience in adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings is necessary.
Certification Requirements
- ACLS certification is required.
- BLS certification is required.
Licensure Requirements
Active Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure is required.
Unit Information
The Respiratory Therapist will work in a department that supports adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration pneumonia, and tracheostomies. Responsibilities include providing ventilation support and working with Rapid Response Teams throughout the facility.
Additional Experience Requirements
- Experience with airway management, including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
- Competency in caring for patients with acute respiratory conditions is required.
- Experience with bronchoscopy support and sputum specimen collection is necessary.
- Thorough knowledge of ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
- Ability to perform chest physiotherapy and arterial blood gas collection along with ABG interpretation.
Special Equipment Experience Required
- Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP machines.
- Experience with mechanical ventilators.
- Knowledge of high-flow oxygen and other oxygen-delivery systems.
- Understanding of nebulizer and aerosol medication-delivery systems.
Charting System
The charting system utilized in this position is Cerner.
