Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive therapy services to patients within an inpatient rehabilitation setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping individuals recover their daily living skills and achieve their rehabilitation goals, primarily focusing on stroke patients and a diverse range of rehabilitation needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to enhance patient recovery and improve daily functioning.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists and speech-language pathologists, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art technologies and equipment in therapy sessions.
  • Document patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary in accordance with departmental standards.

Work Schedule

This position follows a day shift schedule, Monday to Friday. The working hours are typically from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. There is a requirement to work one Saturday per month for four hours, with the flexibility to choose the timing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in occupational therapy, preferably in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Pending state license accepted, provided the candidate holds a valid license to practice in West Virginia.

Unit Description

This role operates within a Medical Rehabilitation Unit located inside a trauma hospital. The unit features a dedicated OT gym equipped with a kitchen and modern rehabilitation technologies, offering an engaging environment for both patients and therapists. The collaborative atmosphere emphasizes rewarding outcomes and effective treatment strategies for a wide range of rehabilitation needs.
