Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional nursing care to patients across all age groups, including pediatrics, in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Job Description

The registered nurse will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in the emergency department, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, including newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Manage and prioritize patient care in a dynamic and busy environment.
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills to assess and monitor patient conditions, including but not limited to strokes, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
  • Operate specialty equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
  • Participate in rapid response situations and provide potentially life-saving interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health regulations and facility policies.
  • Engage in continuous education and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the emergency department is required, with documented pediatric experience preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York, with verification of all active RN licenses.
  • Current certifications in AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC, with TNCC certification required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
  • Ability to float to different departments as needed.

Work Environment

The Emergency Department is a 64-bed unit that includes various treatment areas such as triage, acute care, super track, trauma, CDU, and psychiatric care. The nurse will be expected to provide care in accordance with the facility’s standards, including handling sensitive cases as required.

Schedule

This position involves 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. While block scheduling is not guaranteed, the nurse will have the opportunity to work a diverse length of shifts.
