Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise in telemetry nursing and be committed to providing high-quality patient care on the Ortho/Uro/Neuro unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a focus on orthopedic trauma, vascular conditions, urology, neuro-spine conditions, and OB-GYN oncology.
  • Monitor patient conditions and titrate medications following prescribed guidelines.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Deliver patient education and support to promote health and well-being.
  • Administer treatments and medications as prescribed and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations and implement appropriate interventions.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Experience in telemetry nursing is preferred; familiarity with titratable drips such as heparin, nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin is desired.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with patients and families.

Work Schedule

This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. The primary shifts are from 0700 to 1930. A flexible schedule is necessary to meet unit staffing needs.

Department Overview

The Med Surg/Tele unit comprises 29 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 during the night shifts. Nursing Assistants are available to support patient care during specified hours, and telemetry technicians monitor patient vital signs continuously.

Additional Information

Orientation will include a computer training session followed by 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation. Nurses are expected to float to other medical/surgical nursing units as needed.
