Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Tele

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med Surg/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients with various medical, surgical, and telemetry needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in accordance with established standards and protocols.
• Titrate intravenous medications as prescribed, following approved guidelines.
• Assist in the care of patients with a variety of diagnoses, including orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and gynecological oncology.
• Regularly assess patient conditions and document changes, communicating with interdisciplinary teams as needed.
• Perform vital signs checks and assist with activities of daily living.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize telemetry monitoring systems and understand the basic operation of related equipment.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Unit Details

• 29 beds available in the unit.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6.
• Support staff includes telemetry technicians and nursing assistants with varied daily coverage.

Schedule

The position requires a commitment to working nights, including every other weekend and holiday. Block scheduling is utilized to accommodate staffing needs.

Orientation

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation, including a day of computer training followed by 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation to ensure smooth onboarding.
