Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This role requires providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, pod-based emergency department that includes a separate pediatric area and an Acute Mental Health area.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Administer intravenous (IV) therapy and phlebotomy as needed.
• Perform EKGs and monitor cardiac rhythms.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and provide appropriate interventions.
• Implement splinting and other critical care procedures.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to make informed patient care decisions.
• Educate patients and families on health management and treatment plans.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Nursing.
• Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required.
• NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Flexibility to float between the Emergency Department Observation wing and Acute Mental Health Units as necessary.

Shift Requirements

Position requires working 36 or 48 hours per week during night shifts, including every other weekend. Rotating shifts may be required for Day Rotate purposes based on staffing needs, though the night position remains steady.

Patient Care Overview

The Emergency Department consists of a 65-bed capacity with an average daily census of 230 visits. The clinician-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and it serves a diverse patient population requiring a wide range of emergency care services.
