Clinical Nurse
Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Essential Duties
- Education:
- Identifies and meets personal learning needs.
- Attends educational programs relevant to identified needs.
- Utilizes patient education materials tailored to the patient population.
- Assesses patient, family, and caregiver readiness to learn.
- Evaluates developmental levels and factors influencing learning ability.
- Evaluation of Care:
- Identifies expected patient outcomes.
- Seeks guidance for the revision of care plans as needed.
- Engages in interdisciplinary discussions to evaluate patient care.
- Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
- Implementation:
- Demonstrates competence in addressing the complex needs of patients.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing, as necessary.
- Adheres to healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
- Consults timely with appropriate resources for complex care issues.
- Leadership:
- Develops goals to promote professional growth.
- Aims to achieve goals within the identified time frame.
- Facilitates intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Participates in the development of unit goals and performance improvement.
- Utilizes effective communication systems.
- Contributes to cost-effective care.
- Provides constructive feedback to coworkers.
- Stays informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines impacting healthcare.
- Promotes a safe and secure environment within the hospital.
- Patient Assessment:
- Recognizes and prioritizes data from complex patient situations.
- Addresses appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Synthesizes assessment data effectively for communication.
- Assesses and anticipates individual patient and family discharge needs.
- Establishes relationships that empower families to advocate for patient needs.
- Planning:
- Collaborates with the patient and family to create or update care plans.
- Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in the planning process.
- Employs comprehensive communication methods to convey planning efforts.
- Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
- Demonstrates effective task prioritization for patients with complex needs.
- Research:
- Engages with current nursing journals to enhance practice.
- Presents ideas and questions to the team for collaborative assessment.

Required Skills & Experience:
- One (1) year of nursing experience.

Education
Required Education:
- Nursing Diploma; OR
- ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
Preferred Education:
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
