Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This challenging role involves caring for a diverse patient population with various medical conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Stroke and acute ischemic stroke
  • Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
  • Subdural hematoma (SDH)
  • Brain tumors
  • Cerebral edema/increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Acute respiratory failure
  • Sepsis/septic shock
  • Pneumonia
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
  • Exacerbations of COPD and asthma
  • Acute heart failure/pulmonary edema
  • Acute kidney injury (AKI)
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Acute liver failure
  • Severe electrolyte abnormalities

Unit Information

This unit consists of 16 beds, with a patient-nurse ratio of 1:2. The successful candidate will work night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role requires passing an ECG exam on the second day. Candidates must also possess BLS and ACLS certifications and have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

There will be two clinical technicians available to support the nursing staff for the 16 patients.

Clinical Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Titrating drips, including norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, and dopamine.
  • Utilizing RT equipment such as mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannulas, and noninvasive ventilation systems.
  • Reading telemetry strips, as there will be no dedicated tele/monitor technicians on the unit.

Holiday and Attire Requirements

All staff members are expected to work one major and one minor holiday each year. Major holidays include Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day. Minor holidays consist of Labor Day, Fourth of July, and Memorial Day.

Scrubs should be navy blue.

Qualifications

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
