Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a critical care setting. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions.

Unit Information

• Number of beds: 16
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:2
• Clinical technicians on unit: Two for 16 patients
• Telemonitoring: No tele/monitor techs on units; RNs are required to read their own strips (Phillips monitors)

• Stroke / Acute ischemic stroke
• Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
• Subdural hematoma (SDH)
• Brain tumors
• Cerebral edema / Increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
• Hydrocephalus
• Acute respiratory failure
• Sepsis / Septic shock
• Pneumonia
• ARDS (Acute respiratory distress syndrome)
• COPD exacerbation
• Asthma exacerbation
• Acute heart failure / Pulmonary edema
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute liver failure
• Severe electrolyte abnormalities

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions and vital signs.
• Titrate drips as per the required protocols.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment efficiently, such as mechanical ventilators and high-flow nasal cannulas.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in critical care settings.
• Must successfully pass the ECG exam on day 2 of orientation.

Work Schedule

Shifts include 7 PM to 7 AM. The RN will be required to work 1 major holiday (e.g., Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving) and 1 minor holiday (e.g., Labor Day, Memorial Day).

Scrubs

Navy Blue scrubs are required for this position.
