Open Heart Surgical OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Open Heart Surgical OR Registered Nurse (RN) for an exciting travel opportunity. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a busy operating room environment, specifically in cardiac surgeries, and must demonstrate proficiency in using EPIC electronic health record systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the operating room during open heart and various surgical procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
• Accurately document patient information in the EPIC system.
• Participate in on-call rotations as per departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy Operating Room setting.
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records is essential.
• Current certifications in BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Active nursing license as verified through Nursys.

Work Schedule

The position requires availability for five 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with additional on-call responsibilities, including one night every two weeks and one weekend every six weeks. Workday hours may extend depending on case load.

Unit Description

The operating room department is dynamic and fast-paced, performing a variety of surgeries including open heart, orthopedic, and general procedures. Candidates should be prepared to handle a diverse range of surgical cases while meeting all mandatory qualifications.
