Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room/Surgery

Job Summary

The competent Nurse, in a clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role provides both routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals while continuing to develop the ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing. The Nurse will make appropriate assignments and delegate responsibilities to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of applicable competencies as a leader, addressing self-management, managing others, or leadership roles.
• Provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their practice level.
• Administers medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and timely.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying pertinent issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact license required.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
