Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our dynamic float pool team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care within a community-based environment. This position requires flexibility and the ability to adjust to various medical-surgical units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, updating care plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal patient care.
• Perform technical procedures such as blood product administration, central line management, and IV therapy.
• Assist in pre/post hemodialysis management and care of patients with renal failure.
• Provide patient education and support for families regarding treatment plans and during recovery.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner charting system.
• Adhere to all safety and infection prevention protocols, including isolation precautions.

Qualifications

• Valid NM nursing license (may be pending at time of submission).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS are required.
• Experience in MS/Tele nursing and competencies in specialized procedures (feeding tube care, phlebotomy, starting IVs, etc.) are preferred.
• Ability to float to various med-surg units as well as boarders in other departments as needed.
• Willingness to work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles (Thanksgiving/Day After, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day).
• Flexible availability for weekend shifts as part of the six-week schedule.

Work Environment

• Type of Facility: Community-based hospital with a total of 60 staffed beds.
• Shift: Days—4×12 hour shifts (07:00 – 19:30).
• Parking: Free parking available for all staff.
