PICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated PICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role is crucial in providing high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients. The successful candidate will be skilled in various emergency procedures and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

• Ratios: 1:2
• Shifts: Rotating shifts available; Must be flexible to work either shift during the contract
• Years of Experience Required: 1.5 years
• First-Time Travelers Accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts for day shift and 5 for night shift, with nights including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• On-Call Requirement: No
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Participate in the management and coordination of care for critically ill children
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care
• Float to NICU as required; optional cross-training available for Pediatric ED
• Maintain a working knowledge of inotropic drips, CRRT, ECMO, and ventilators

Qualifications

• Certifications Required: BLS, PALS, New Mexico License
• Special Requirements: Experience with CRRT & ECMO procedures and the ability to handle two intubated patients when necessary
• RTO Restrictions: Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval

Patient Population

Candidates should be prepared to care for patients with conditions including:

• Respiratory distress/failure
• Renal failure
• Trauma
• Multi-system organ failure
• Hematology/Oncology conditions
• Suicide attempts
