Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a General Med/Surg unit. This position involves providing high-quality patient care, managing a diverse patient population, and supporting a collaborative healthcare environment.

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience

• Minimum Experience: 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Traveler Experience: First-time travelers are accepted.
• Skills:
  • Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Peripheral Line Care/Management
  • Initiating and maintaining IVs
  • Managing CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) patients
  • Administration of Oxygen and use of Oxygen tanks
  • Following Isolation Precautions and using PPE
• Certifications: BLS required.

Preferred Skills / Certifications / Experience

• Skills:
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Heparin and Insulin management
  • Management of Cardiac drips (no titration)
  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Oral suctioning
  • Wound care and Wound Vac usage
  • Community hospital experience preferred
• Certifications: ACLS, NIHSS preferred.

Job Details

• Target Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
• Shift: Nights, 3×12 hours, 18:45 – 07:15
• Total Weekly Hours: 36 hours available
• Contract Length: 13-week contracts accepted
• Time Off Requests: All requests reviewed by the unit for accommodation
• Schedule Type: Self-scheduling
• Orientation: 24-36 hours, including mandatory classes in the first week

Unit Characteristics

The unit has an average daily census of 8 patients, with 12 beds available. Typical patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, Diabetes, infectious diseases, and standard med/surg telemetry cases. Staff may be required to float as needed.

Scrubs

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.
