Registered Nurse – Operating Room

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Operating Room team. This position is essential in providing high-quality patient care within a fast-paced surgical environment.

Shift Information

• Schedule: 3×12 hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• On-call requirement: 1 per week, plus 2 eight-hour weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend

Responsibilities

• Function as a member of the patient care team, delivering safe and age-appropriate care.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.
• Support advanced technology and minimally invasive techniques.
• Participate in surgical education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience is required.
• Level II trauma experience is required; Level I trauma experience is preferred.
• First-time travelers are welcomed.
• Proficiency in Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, and Thoracic procedures is mandatory.
• Experience with emergency OR response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, and latex allergy precautions is required.
• Familiarity with electrosurgical units, fiber-optic, and Steris equipment is essential.

Certifications

• Current BLS certification is required.
• Completion of a 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course is required.
• 8 hours of annual trauma CEUs are required.
• ACLS, NIH, and PALS certifications are preferred.

Licensure Requirements

• A valid Maryland RN license or a compact RN license is required upon submission.

Time Off Policy

• Approval for time off (RTO) is auto-approved for 14 days or less.
• Every other winter and summer holiday coverage is required; RTO is not approved during these periods.
• No RTO will be granted on hard-to-fill days, including major holidays.

Additional Information

• The Operating Room averages approximately 40 cases per day and serves pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Scrubs are provided.
• Charting system utilized is Cerner/Surginet.
