Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical

Scheduling Details

The Registered Nurse will work three 12-hour shifts per week, with hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Weekend availability may include every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week scheduling block. All requests for time off or special scheduling must be included upon submission, and candidates should be aware of the facility’s call-off policy, which allows for one shift off every two weeks. Additionally, candidates must work one holiday during a 13-week contract period.

Charting Requirements

Experience with EPIC charting is required.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current BLS certification
• Pending licenses accepted only from candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, a valid Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license is required.

Clinical Skills

• Proficient in Medical/Surgical care with experience in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Skilled in peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
• Charge Nurse experience preferred

Unit Details

The Medical Surgical unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6. Nurses will care for adult patients undergoing elective surgeries, trauma cases, and various medical conditions including cancers and infections. Flexibility to float within skillsets may be required, and nurses may also be expected to take on charge duties and precept new staff.
