Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (IMCU). This position involves delivering high-quality care to patients with diverse medical conditions, including neurological, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory issues.

Unit Details

The IMCU consists of a total of 64 beds, including 15 designated for neuro patients. The nursing team will handle a variety of diagnoses, such as:

• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Myocardial infarction (MI)
• Cardiovascular stepdown
• Post-operative care

Essential Duties

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment, including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP machines, and the Neptune Vapo.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists for ventilator management of chronic patients.
• Document patient care and treatment plans in electronic medical records (EMR) using EPIC.
• Float to other areas as needed, ensuring scope of practice is maintained.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and any other state licenses.
• Current certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic and demanding clinical setting.

Patient Demographics

The RN will care for adult patients aged 18 years and older.

Shift Information

This position requires 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.
