Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU

Position Overview

This role is within the Perioperative Care Unit and is focused on providing high-quality nursing care in a Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery setting. The unit comprises 14 beds with dedicated PACU bays and interchangeable bays for pre-op and post-Endoscopy procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients recovering from anesthesia in Phase 1 and Phase 2 settings.
• Work in various areas, including pre-op, PACU, pre-Endo, and post-Endo as assigned.
• Follow ASPAN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Monitor and read cardiac strips.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and efficient care delivery.

• Ortho (total joints and sports medicine)
• General surgery
• Gynecological procedures
• C-sections
• Endoscopy procedures
• Pediatric orthopedic trauma (older children) and some dental cases

Qualifications

• Current RN license and required certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU setting required; strong general surgical recovery experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; experience in endoscopy is a plus but not mandatory.

Work Environment

• Unit specific orientation provided with experienced preceptors over 3-5 shifts.
• Collaboration with charge nurses and an Assistant Nurse Manager who support staffing and efficiency.
• Two CNAs available during weekdays to assist with tasks, although RN staff are expected to maintain room cleanliness and assist with turnovers.
• All staff are expected to remain within a 30-minute response time when on-call.

Shifts & Scheduling

• Standard start times from 6 AM to 8 AM with 8 or 10-hour shifts.
• Weekend call is assigned on a rotation basis with a requirement for 5-6 days scheduled per month.
• No self-scheduling available; holiday call assignments may be required during the contract period.

Additional Information

Scrubs will be provided by the facility. Candidates must be aware of the 50-mile radius rule for applicants. All interested candidates should be prepared to commit to the assignment and accept the pay package as presented.
