Central Sterile Technician

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment, adhering to established protocols, infection control standards, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

• Process specialty and general instruments.
• Reset instrument sets accurately.
• Decontaminate instruments and equipment as per established procedures.
• Maintain stock levels in the Central Sterile Department.
• Prepare and assemble surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing.
• Communicate instrument repair needs to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Can experience be accepted in lieu of a degree? No.
• Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) is required.
• Experience: 2-4 years of related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of case cart assembly.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards regarding materials management.
• Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Schedule

This position operates Monday to Friday with rotating weekends. The start date is subject to credentialing clearance, and a rescheduled start date may be necessary if clearance is not obtained by the posted start date.
