Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for maternal care and demonstrate the ability to provide comprehensive nursing support in a combined obstetrical unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clientele, including both vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
  • Manage antepartum and postpartum patients, ensuring high-quality couplet care for mothers and babies.
  • Provide nursing support for GYN/medical overflow and observational triage patients.
  • Perform procedures related to obstetrics, including but not limited to versions, induction of labor, cervical ripening, and care for intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD).
  • Support neonatal care for Level II NICU clientele.
  • Collaborate closely with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a helping hand when floated outside of specialty, utilizing general nursing skills to assist assigned nurses.

Staffing Ratios

  • 1:1 for patients in active labor or experiencing complications.
  • 1:3 for stable antepartum patients.
  • 1:1-2 for unstable or ill antepartum patients.
  • 1:3/4 for couplet care.
  • 2:1 during delivery (one RN for mother and one for baby with NRP certification).
  • 1:2-3 in NICU Level 2, depending on patient condition.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license (pending license acceptable).
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP.
  • Proven experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Information

This position requires working the night shift (3×12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00) within a 6-week block schedule.
