Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team in a 65-bed Emergency Department. The unit features a pod-based design, including separate areas for pediatric care and acute mental health treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and document patient information accurately.
• Administer IV therapy, conduct phlebotomy, and perform EKGs.
• Monitor cardiac activity and conduct point of care testing.
• Provide patient education and implement critical thinking in patient care decisions.
• Utilize splinting techniques as necessary.

Patient Population

This role involves caring for a diverse patient population with varying medical needs.

Clinician to Patient Ratio

The clinician to patient ratio is typically 1:4.

Department Statistics

• Bed Count: 65
• Average Census: 230 visits per day

Technical Skills Required

• Proficient in general emergency department nursing skills.
• Ability to operate the EMR system (EPIC – ASAP).
• Familiarity with floating responsibilities to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and the Acute Mental Health Unit.

Shift Requirements

This position will primarily involve night shifts, with potential rotation requests for day shifts (7a-7p, 11a-11p) as needed. Night position will not rotate.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of emergency nursing experience required.
• Must possess active certifications: AHA Certified BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.
