Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires a passion for patient care in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle complex diagnoses across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room.
• Assess, plan, and implement patient care based on individual needs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort during treatment.
• Manage patient care workload in a fast-paced setting with varying acuity levels.
• Document patient care and progress accurately and timely.
• Float to sister emergency department facilities as needed.

Schedule

This position requires a rotating schedule primarily consisting of night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30 or evening shifts from 15:00 to 03:30, with a commitment to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled. Shift configurations include 3×12 hour or 4×12 hour formats.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an emergency department setting. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Current RN license in the state of Maryland.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH stroke scale, and CPI required. NRP and TNCC certifications are preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to respond to emergencies promptly.

Patient Care

The Emergency Room RN will care for patients across a wide age range, from infants to geriatric patients, providing treatment for various diagnoses, including complex medical cases. The nurse-to-patient ratio will typically be 1:4, with potential for a 1:5 ratio during lower acuity times.

Additional Information

This role requires floating between multiple locations in the region based on departmental needs. Pre-scheduled on-call shifts are not a requirement of this position.
