Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of routine laboratory procedures following standardized methodologies. The technician will operate various laboratory equipment and ensure quality results for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures utilizing analysers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment.
• Maintain quality results by running standards and controls and verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Provide accurate test results to support patient diagnosis and treatment decisions.
• Manage laboratory supplies inventory to ensure availability for testing needs.
• Analyze blood samples by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques.
• Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment, ensuring proper functionality through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
• Perform additional related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required.
• Recent experience in blood bank procedures is required.

Schedule

This position requires availability for Monday through Friday shifts from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with a commitment to work every other weekend from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The technician may also be required to be on-call as necessary.
