Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro PCU

Job Description

This position calls for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The RN will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care to adults with neurological conditions, including but not limited to stroke management, neurosurgical recovery, and medical overflow.

Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: 3x12s from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Charting

Experience with EPIC charting is required.

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Clinical Skills Required

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and care for central and peripheral lines
• Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration)
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Participation in Rapid Response and adherence to isolation precautions

Unit Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 (Traveler must be comfortable with a 1:5 ratio)
• Patient Population: Adult patients with neurological conditions
• Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
• Care involves managing neurosurgical recovery and neuro-specific diagnoses
• Travelers may be required to float to units within their clinical skillset
