Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in patient care, specifically in general medicine and surgery, and possess strong skills in electronic documentation through EPIC.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, managing a daily census of approximately 43.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Utilize various medical procedures, including heparin drips and wound vac dressing changes.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to monitor patient progress and implement care plans.
• Participate in an Inclement Weather Team, which may require reporting to work during severe weather conditions.
• Support patients who may be diagnosed with COVID-19.
• Attend unit team meetings scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of each month, with additional sessions for night shift staff.

Schedule

• Shifts are 12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48-hour workweeks are available.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and during holidays.
• RTO (Request Time Off) is limited to a maximum of 7 days for auto-offers.
• Required to be on call if placed on a prescheduled shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• BCLS certification is mandatory.
• Experience with EPIC is required; CPI and charge nurse experience are preferred.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to the start date.

Unit Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6.
• The unit focuses on medical-surgical patients and has a variety of procedures applicable to all med/surg nurses.
• No PCU-level patients are assigned to this unit.
• Staff will occasionally float to similar units and alternate care locations as necessary.

Additional Information

Scrubs are not provided; navy blue scrubs are required. Unit orientation will last for 24 hours, and all contract staff may be reassigned as needed throughout the contract duration.
