Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate should be able to provide high-quality patient care while working in a dynamic and sometimes demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with general medical/surgical needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as per established protocols.
• Participate in care coordination and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage patient caseload effectively and ensure adherence to nursing standards.
• Attend unit team meetings as scheduled, including monthly meetings and additional meetings for night shift staff.
• Be prepared to care for COVID-19 patients as needed.
• Work as part of the Inclement Weather Team and respond to unit needs during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• EPIC experience is required.
• Current BCLS certification is mandatory.
• Travelers with prior experience in charge nurse roles are preferred.
• CPI certification and charge nurse experience are preferred.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted.
• Weekend work is required, with travelers expected to work every other weekend.
• Must be available to work on holidays.

Patient Care Environment

The nursing unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of approximately 43. Nurses will be exposed to a variety of medical conditions, and they will be responsible for tasks such as:

• Managing heparin drips and wound vacuum dressing changes.
• Administering high flow oxygen and providing limited short-term BiPap respiratory support.

Unit Orientation

A comprehensive unit orientation of 24 hours will be provided for new staff members.

Additional Information

• Scrubs will not be provided; navy blue scrubs are required.
• Travelers must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
