Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position is for a Float Pool Registered Nurse who is willing to float between eight different medical/surgical telemetry units. The role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and nights, with rotations and every other weekend commitment. Nurses will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in various settings throughout the hospital, ensuring safety and effective monitoring of patients.

Unit Description

The float nurses will rotate throughout multiple Med/Surg Telemetry areas, including but not limited to various units focused on medication administration, patient monitoring, and care for patients transitioning from intensive care.

Experience Requirements

• 2 years of acute care hospital experience in one location.
• 2 years working as a Traveler nurse preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips every four hours.
• Provide care for emergency department border patients and non-vented patients ready for transfer from the ICU.

Patient Population

The Float Pool RN will work with a diverse patient population, including those in need of acute mental health care and other non-vented patients across various departments.

Bed Count and Patient Census

The facility has a total of 371 beds, with unit bed counts ranging from 8 to 41.

Rotation and Staffing Details

• Patient-to-Nurse Ratios: Days and evenings up to 5:1; Nights up to 6:1.
• Rotation will include 1 to 3 transitions to night shifts per contract.

Charting System

The electronic medical record (EMR) system used is EPIC.

Required Certifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA BLS Certification.
• AHA ACLS Certification preferred.
