Surgical Technologist Certified

Shift: 7 AM – 7 PM

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist performs a variety of technical duties to assist in the preparation and care of pre-operative patients. This role includes maintaining sterile techniques, providing patient support, and preparing the Operating Room for surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to aseptic techniques and actively monitor situations to prevent breaches in sterile practices.
• Prepare patient skin for surgery according to hospital standards and provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room and position them appropriately based on the type of surgery.
• Identify and care for biological specimens.
• Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies based on the surgical case requirements.
• Scrub in for multiple specialty areas including but not limited to transplants, open heart procedures, urology, neurology, and robotics.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, passing instruments and sutures to the physician as directed.
• Maintain and update preference cards to ensure accurate surgical setup.
• Work effectively as part of a collaborative care team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
• Implement and adhere to safety policies and sanitation procedures within the OR.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Participate in the monitoring and control of the surgical environment, including adherence to traffic control and dress codes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is mandatory.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification is required (American Heart Association only).
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist or a valid LVN/LPN License is required.
