Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position requires 2+ years of continuous MICU experience, with the capability to interpret tele strips. Candidates must be prepared to float to medical/surgical units as needed.

Unit Description

Our MICU is a Level III Trauma Center, featuring a 20-bed capacity dedicated to adult patients with various critical conditions, including:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Our team collaborates closely with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24/7.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpreting telemetry data effectively.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Manage patient care in both the MICU and medical/surgical units as needed, with potential for patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2 in high acuity situations.
• Document patient information using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, EPIC.

Qualifications

• Active RN License in Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of adult ICU experience, preferably within a MICU.
• Strong ability to read telemetry strips and provide comprehensive patient assessment.

Additional Information

This position requires flexibility with shift rotations. Day rotators may work between different daytime shifts, including 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a. Night shifts do not rotate. On-site parking is available for all staff.
