Registered Nurse – Chemotherapy

As a Chemotherapy Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect patient services to individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment. The role requires effective communication with Chemotherapy Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Managers, and fellow coworkers regarding any alterations in patients’ clinical conditions and updates in policies or procedures. The successful candidate must be able to respond promptly and accurately to changes in both patient and unit conditions, ensuring the highest standards of safe and quality patient care.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Licenses/Certifications:

• Required: Current RN license in the State of Oregon.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Required: ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card.
• Preferred: Oncology Nursing Certification or willingness to obtain within three years of hire.

Experience:

• Required: At least one year of acute care or medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Preferred: Previous experience in oncology nursing.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to provide care that addresses the patient’s age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial needs.
• Effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure quality patient care.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills.

Working Conditions:

This position is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment. While protected from outdoor weather, the work setting may encounter variable indoor temperatures and exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. Staff must adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The role may involve high-pressure situations demanding rapid responses to changing circumstances, alongside multiple simultaneous demands and varying noise levels from medical equipment and patient care activities.
