Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a Med/Surg Telemetry Unit that primarily cares for stroke patients, as well as patients with various other neuro diagnoses such as epilepsy and subdural hematomas. This position involves working on a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality patient care and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care to individuals with medical-surgical and telemetry needs.
• Administering medication and managing IV lines.
• Monitoring and interpreting telemetry and dysrhythmias to manage patients effectively.
• Participating in multidisciplinary team discussions to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assisting with special procedures as required in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.

Qualifications

All candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
• Previous traveler experience, with at least 2 successful contracts.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
• IV start and telemetry experience, with the ability to interpret dysrhythmias.

Working Conditions

• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6.
• Shifts are 12 hours, with day shifts scheduled from 06:45 to 19:15.
• Travelers are expected to work every other weekend and will be required to float to other medical-surgical and telemetry areas as necessary.
• Candidates may need to make up shifts if calling out or missing scheduled hours.

Additional Information

The position requires passing EKG testing prior to onboarding. Unit orientation will be provided, lasting 36 hours. Scrubs will be navy in color.
