Emergency Room Nurse

Job Summary

This position is for an Emergency Room Nurse responsible for providing high-quality care for patients in the emergency department. The nurse will also have the opportunity to float to the Clinical Decision Unit, which may include working with psychiatric patients.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Days
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency setting
• Required Certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Experience with Meditech is essential

Responsibilities

Quality of Care and Nursing Process

• Provide evidence-based care to prevent healthcare-acquired conditions and readmissions.
• Practice standard precautions and comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines.

Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments following established protocols.
• Gather relevant information from patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Diagnosis / Care Needs

• Analyze assessment data to identify nursing diagnoses and care needs.
• Formulate care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.

Implementation

• Deliver nursing care based on identified needs and standards of care.
• Prioritize care according to the patient’s condition and involve the patient and their family in decision-making processes.
• Provide patient education tailored to individual needs.

Evaluation

• Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans based on ongoing assessments.

Documentation

• Maintain clear and concise documentation of patient care and interventions.
• Complete necessary forms and nursing care plans in accordance with hospital policies.
• Provide thorough discharge instructions to patients.

Patient Satisfaction

• Maintain patient communication boards and conduct hourly rounds.
• Utilize AIDET and other evidence-based behaviors to enhance patient experience.
