Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a surgical environment, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes in various surgical procedures. The RN will collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional care for surgical patients.

Work Schedule

• 10-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM.
• Non-consecutive working days with days off assigned randomly from Monday to Friday.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements

• One weeknight of call every week from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
• One weekend per month on call, rotating between Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Attendance Policy

There is a strict attendance policy in place. Any RN who is absent from a scheduled shift or arrives more than 20 minutes late three times will face immediate termination, with exceptions considered for documented communicable diseases or hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care during surgical procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
• Assist the surgical team by preparing the operating room and necessary instruments.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery, recognizing and responding to any changes in their condition.
• Implement and adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Preferred experience in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Endo-Vascular, Urology, or Obstetrics.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Active Michigan nursing license required at the time of application.
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties.
