MT-Certified Surgical Technician

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the care and safety of patients during surgical procedures. The technician provides essential technical assistance in the Operating Room and possesses knowledge regarding the age-specific needs of the patients served.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare the surgical room efficiently and in an organized manner.
• Practice principles of asepsis consistently.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the Operating Room and Endoscopic Lab.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with the RN Circulator.
• Stock and replace Central Sterile (CS) items and maintain a CS inventory sheet.
• Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures and assist the physician effectively.
• Organize and ensure the availability of correct instrumentation.
• Follow verbal physician orders within the operating suite.
• Handle surgical specimens appropriately and compile necessary equipment on the surgical field.
• Document unusual occurrences and departmental forms in a timely manner.
• Perform CPR as required and operate all applicable instruments and equipment proficiently.
• Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room.
• Monitor surgical equipment for maintenance and repairs.
• Complete duties as a technical scrub in the Operating Room.
• Prepare the room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain a cooperative disposition within the Operating Room environment.
• Perform other duties as required.

Shift Information

Shift: Day Shift with Rotating Call (8-hour Shifts). Holiday coverage is required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Certification in BLS/BCLS is required.
