Labor and Delivery Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in L&D and demonstrated expertise in high-risk obstetrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Monitor and manage the labor and delivery process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, c-sections, and other medical procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including obstetricians, neonatologists, and support staff.
• Support and educate patients and families about childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
• Participate in unit activities, including staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Travel experience is preferred, as this role requires adaptability to different environments.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Intermediate or above EFM.
• Ability to follow AWHONN recommended nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, specifically Meditech.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, and 2 operating rooms.
• Emergency OB room with 6 triage beds.
• Approximately 150-200 births per month.
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts.
• Weekend scheduling includes every other weekend, with holiday rotations alongside permanent staff.
• Scrub uniforms provided by the unit.

Additional Information

• Floating to post-partum units may be required as needed.
• An in-house neonatology team and OB hospitalist are available 24/7 for enhanced patient care.
• All nursing staff participate in a supportive environment focusing on patient-centered care and education.
