Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health will play a crucial role in the formulation and implementation of patient care plans. The RN will ensure the delivery of high-quality and compassionate care to individuals struggling with mental health challenges.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the patient care plan formulation based on provided input.
- Attend weekly clinical staffing meetings to review treatment plans for patients.
- Provide medication education to patients and their families.
- Report and accurately document emotional and mental observations in the patient chart.
- Conduct teaching and educational groups according to the APU schedule.
- Train LPNs and Mental Health Technicians in charting, vital signs, patient routines, and de-escalation techniques.
- Participate actively in a Performance Improvement (PI) team or other unit task forces.
- Accept additional educational or marketing assignments as directed by management.
- Maintain Therapeutic Options certification and ensure it is up to date.
- Serve as a positive role model for patients and colleagues through professional conduct in language, dress, hygiene, and behavior.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing is required.
- De-Escalation training is preferred.
- Recent travel nurse experience is desirable.
- Certifications: NIH and BLS (AHA) are required.
- Current Oklahoma state nursing license is required.
Work Schedule
The position is for 12-hour night shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week. Weekend work may be required on an as-needed basis.
