Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality patient care and the ability to adapt to changing environments in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care in the Medical Surgical unit, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards.
- Monitor and assess patient health status, advocating for patient needs and making timely decisions regarding care.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team regarding care plans and patient progress.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and nursing aides, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Foster a positive environment by contributing to team meetings and supporting teammates.
- Flexibility to adapt to various assignments and rotations as per patient needs.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a Medical Surgical setting, which includes at least one travel assignment.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification required.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Meditech.
- Patient Ratios: Understand patient-to-nurse ratios and staff dynamics, including support from nurse aides.
Requirements
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift from 7 AM to 7 PM, with every other weekend requirement.
- Willingness to float to different units as needed, including Ortho/Neuro, Oncology, Acute Care, and JFW.
- Ability to rotate holiday schedules with permanent staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
