Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our acute care team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to handle a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary care nursing for patients with a variety of conditions including diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds, renal failure, and postoperative recovery.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered, ensuring safe and accurate delivery.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes in their health status, utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and ensure positive outcomes.
  • Assist in complex procedures including dialysis, wound care, and management of various medical devices.
  • Participate in patient education and promote adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, including at least 1 travel assignment.
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Must have experience in a high-acuity medical surgical setting, preferably in a larger organization with fast turnaround rates.
  • Ability to manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 effectively.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality of care, and patient satisfaction.

Shift Information

This position requires availability for 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, including every other weekend.

  • Candidates must adhere to strict attendance policies and professional appearance standards, including guidelines regarding nail treatments and personal items at the nurses’ station.
  • Experience with acute care and cardiology preferred.
  • Willingness to rotate assignments with permanent staff as needed.
