Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

Job Summary

The Neuro Intermediate Care Unit is seeking experienced registered nurses to provide quality patient care within a specialized environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and adhere to established behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients in a neuro stepdown and intermediate care setting.
• Perform vital tasks such as cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration.
• Implement titration protocols for various medications, including LEVO and insulin drips.
• Manage complex patient conditions related to neurological and medical intermediate patients.
• Engage with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and care strategies.
• Maintain compliance with call-off policy and ensure proper documentation of patient care.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on neuro care preferred.
• Official certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Strong skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in IV therapy, central line management, and blood product administration.
• Experience with neurological conditions, including care for seizures, strokes, and post-operative neurosurgery patients.
• Familiarity with feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, and tracheostomy care.
• Proficient in the use of EPIC and other relevant healthcare technologies.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills, including managing ports.
• Additional certifications such as CCRN, TNCC, and CPI are strongly preferred.

Work Schedule

• Night shifts available, with 12-hour shifts, 18:45 – 07:15.
• Weekend requirement: a minimum of 3 shifts every six weeks.

Patient Population

Care for an intermediate population, including sub-specialized neurological patients and patients with medical conditions requiring intermediate supervision.

Special Procedures and Equipment

This unit utilizes advanced healthcare technologies and procedures aimed at providing comprehensive care for neurological and medical patients.

Unit Orientation

• A comprehensive orientation program, including an 8-hour computer class followed by unit-specific shadowing, will be provided.

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs are not provided; candidates must wear navy blue or white scrubs.

Interview Process

Candidates must provide availability for interviews within the next 72 hours to expedite the hiring process.

Additional Information

All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting. A strong adherence to the call-off policy is required.
