Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry care. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage a variety of patient diagnoses and perform essential nursing duties.

Job Details

  • Target Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Shift: 12-hour Days; 36 or 48 hours accepted
  • Contract Length: 13-26 weeks
  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours
  • Hospital Orientation: Attendance required for daily classes during the first week

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with diverse medical conditions, including dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and more.
  • Monitor patients using telemetry and respond effectively to dysrhythmias.
  • Administer medications and perform standard nursing procedures, including IV management, blood product administration, and wound care.
  • Utilize Rapid Response Team protocols as needed.
  • Manage colostomy care, feeding tube care, and hemodialysis pre/post management.
  • Provide non-invasive airway management and utilize various oxygen delivery systems.
  • Maintain adherence to isolation precautions and other safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in a similar role

  • Required Skills:
    • Medical/Surgical knowledge
    • Telemetry remote monitoring
    • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
    • IV insulin protocols
    • Central line and peripheral line management
    • Phlebotomy
    • PICC line management
    • Chest tube management
    • PCA and Heparin administration
  • Certifications: BCLS required

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
  • Contract staff may be assigned to work within a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and report to work during catastrophic events.
  • Floating to other units as required is expected, with weekend shifts required (12-16 per contract).
