Pediatric Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

This position is part of the Pediatric Float Pool and involves working across various pediatric units, including PICU, NICU, pediatric medical-surgical, pediatric PACU, pediatric emergency department boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units. The ideal candidate must have the ability to float between these units as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care to pediatric patients in multiple settings.
• Float to various pediatric units, including PICU, NICU, and pediatric medical-surgical.
• Administer medications and treatments as per established protocols.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, responding promptly to changes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.

Shift Information:

This is a night position, requiring 36 or 48 hours per week, with a schedule of 3×12-hour shifts. Candidates must be available for every other weekend and holiday. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid RN license, with a Virginia license considered pending.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in PICU is required.
• Previous experience in NICU and floating between pediatric units is preferred.
• BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• Pediatric PACU experience is highly preferred.
• Dr. Brown’s Infant Driven Feeding Certification is required but may be obtained post-offer; candidates will be responsible for the certification cost.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records is necessary.
• Must adhere to hospital’s float policy.
