Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

A dynamic opportunity for an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse is available. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a dedicated healthcare team to deliver quality services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a stepdown unit, managing patients who require closer monitoring.
• Perform IV starts and manage telemetry systems effectively.
• Monitor and interpret patients’ vital signs and ECG readings.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Adhere to evidence-based practices while delivering nursing care.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
• Educate patients and families regarding post-discharge care and health maintenance.

Work Schedule

This position typically requires a commitment of three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekdays and some weekends. The nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:4, with the possibility of adjusting to a 1:5 ratio in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting and 2 years in a Stepdown unit.
• Ability to proficiently read telemetry strips.
• Must hold current certifications in BCLS and ACLS.

Unit Information

The Stepdown Unit provides care for patients who may also require Progressive Care or Telemetry services in larger healthcare facilities. Expect to work with a diverse patient population requiring varying levels of acuity.

Additional Information

• Blocked scheduling options may be available for weekend shifts.
• Scrubs are not provided; approved colors are burgundy and white.
• Experience in a travel nursing role is not required.
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR is preferred.
