Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will possess experience in acute care and demonstrate comfort with complex patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and patient-centered care to individuals with a variety of medical conditions, including oncology, hematology, and general medical diagnoses.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings; remain aware of patient rhythms and report significant changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous drips as necessary, including but not limited to insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and octreotide.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and advocacy throughout the care process.
• Supervise and coordinate with nurse aides and other support staff to enhance patient care delivery.
• Adhere to all regulatory and compliance protocols, policies, and standards of care.

Schedule

This position requires flexibility to work on a variable schedule, which may include day and evening shifts as well as every other weekend and holiday. Standard shifts are 12 hours in length, with day shifts typically from 0700 to 1930 and evening shifts from 1100 to 2330.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience, with a preference for candidates with prior travel assignments.
• Ability to handle complex patient situations and provide individualized care plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork and patient engagement.

Additional Information

Charge nurses and house supervisors are available on all shifts, and charge nurses may take a modified patient assignment. Orientation includes one day of computer training and a 12-hour shift on the floor.
