Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Emergency Department

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Adult Emergency Department is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

Shift Details

  • 12-Hour Nights (7 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • 36 Hours per Week
  • Variable Days
  • Weekends and Holidays Required
  • No Block Scheduling

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Emergency Department RN.
  • The most recent 12 months should include at least one role at an academic medical center or a Level I or Level II Trauma Center in a major metropolitan area.
  • A minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience.
  • Recent experience working in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course)
  • Florida RN License or Compact RN License at the time of submission

Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Testing Requirements

All new RN hires must successfully complete the following:

  • Specialty-specific competency exam
  • EKG exam, which includes rhythm mapping and interpretation

Passing Requirements:

  • A minimum score of 80% on each exam.
  • 100% identification of lethal rhythms is required, regardless of overall EKG score.

Candidates who do not meet the EKG competency requirement will be required to complete additional remedial training beyond Day Two of orientation. A review of cardiac rhythms prior to the start is strongly recommended.

Interview Process

Applicants must participate in an interview with the Unit Manager as part of the selection process.
