L&D Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate L&D Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a high-risk facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in labor and delivery and be able to provide outstanding care to our patients and their families.

Unit Information

• L&D Beds: 7
• Operating Room Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 17
• Annual Births: Approximately 950-1000
• Patient Diagnoses: Pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, and more.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including monitoring vital signs and uterine activity.
• Assist in admissions, prepping, and recovery in the labor and delivery area.
• Float to Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) and Antepartum as needed.
• Titrate drips such as insulin and oxytocin as required.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including OB Providers and Anesthesia, who are available 24/7.
• Interpret fetal heart rate patterns and manage care accordingly.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and NRP certifications are required.
• Previous experience in L&D nursing is preferred.
• Ability to float to NICU if trained and comfortable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

The unit is staffed with OB Technicians, and a charge nurse typically does not take patient assignments. An OB provider is present on-site 24/7, ensuring expert care is always available. Orientation will consist of three days: one hospital-specific and two unit-specific.

Scheduling

• Every third weekend required, with block scheduling options available.
• Holidays may be assigned as needed.
