Labor and Delivery Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. This position requires a strong background in L&D nursing, with a commitment to providing high-quality care to mothers and newborns.

Shift Details

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: Contract does not take all
• Holidays: Rotates with permanent staff

Unit Information

• Number of L&D Beds: 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, and 2 ORs
• Number of Triage Beds: 6 in the OB emergency room
• Average Births: 150-200 births per month
• Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines
• Common Diagnoses: High-risk obstetrics to routine OB, with an antepartum unit for prolonged patient care

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery nursing required
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Intermediate or above EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• Travel Experience: Required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Additional Information

• Floating: May be required to float to postpartum as needed
• Orientation: 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation
• Nurse Aides/OB Technicians: OR techs perform dual roles and assist in various capacities
• Support Services: Neonatology and OB hospitalists are available on-site 24/7
• Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
• Required Travel Radius: 72-mile radius strictly enforced
• Baby-Friendly: The unit supports breastfeeding with lactation consulting available on-site
