Registered Nurse / PCU (Medical-Renal)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Medical-Renal care. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional nursing care to adult and geriatric patients and possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Scheduling Details

• Shift: 3×12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during a 13-week contract

Charting Requirements

Experience with Epic charting system is required.

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac: Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and management of cardiac drips (without titration)
• IV/Line: Expertise in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central and peripheral line care
• Respiratory: Competency in respiratory support via nasal cannula and oxygen administration, along with non-invasive airway management
• Rapid Response/Isolation: Knowledge of utilizing rapid response and code teams while maintaining isolation precautions
• Additional: Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown settings is preferred

Unit Details

The Progressive Care Unit operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 and specializes in the care of patients with various medical conditions, including chronic ventilator management. Our unit services both hospitalist medicine patients and patients with renal and other medical diagnoses. Additionally, staff may float to other units within their skillset as needed.

Candidate Requirements
